Coppiced Wood

This Children’s Walking Stick is produced using the coppicing method, which means that is it formed from the shoot that grows when the upper part of a young tree* is removed. Occasionally these shoots fork to produce the distinctive thumbstick shape, much sought after in the countryside.

Sizing of the Junior Thumbstick Child’s Walking Stick

The length of the Junior Thumbstick is approximately 100cm (39.5″) and can easily be shortened if necessary. Due to the natural sourcing and manufacturing process, however, the length may vary slightly from product to product.

*The type of wood that is used to produce this stick depends on current availability, as the natural V-shape is quite rare and hard to find. Most often the wood is either ash or hazel.

As the production process is completely natural, each Junior Thumbstick 3561 is unique. This means that the height, design and colour of these sticks may differ greatly.
