Unused paring chisel/slick from Iyoroi who are makers from Japan.
24mm wide with single hollow.
Length overall – 580mm
Oak handle.
The blades are 120mm long. The back is diamond shaped as opposed to bevel edged.
This is a long paring chisels refered to as a slick and is used for cleaning up joints such as the mortise and tenon joints.
They are not design to be struck with a mallet or hammer.
A Japanese slick tends to be more refined and precise than its western made equivalent. It has a laminated steel steel blade.
Often referred to as “Sashi Nomi”
